PostGuard
The post guard is a great way to protect your posts from string trimmers. Mower decks can be taken right over the top so there is no trimming! They area easy to install. Simply cut back the grass as low as you can around the post, fit the guard around the base, and secure the guard to the post.
There are two types of post guards.
-4 piece that works great around timber posts up to 6" x 6".
-2 piece that works around metal T type posts.
FenceGuard
FenceGuards come in 5.5' lengths and can be installed under chain link or wood fences. The guards are 14" in width and eliminate the need for trimming along the fence.
Avoid spraying along fence lines and risking drift.
Save time by eliminating the need to trim.
Plant Protection Products
Screened trunk protection
Screened trunk protection are a better choice than wraps and black drainage tiles. The screen allows better water and air circulation around the trunk. This circulation helps prevent rotting of the bark around the trunk.
Tree wrap
Tree wrap can be used to wrap lower branches, branches that are close, and tight areas. These types of areas are difficult to install the screened protection.
Tree stake straps
These straps are a better solution than cut hoses, twine, or wire around the tree trunk. The straps provide more surface area around the trunk. This reduces damage and stress to the tree. You can simply hook your existing stakes and wire into these straps.
REMEMBER-DO NOT leave tree stakes on longer than 1 year.

Our grass seed is available in 5 lb and 50 lb bags.
We generally stock 3 different grass mixes for this area. All of our seed is certified blue tag seed.

Seeding Mulch
We carry a seeding mulch called Penn Mulch. It is a mulch that also contains a starter fertilizer. The mulch provides nutrients and holds moisture around the new seeds. This helps with improved seed germination rates.
The Penn mulch is available in 50 lb bags.
Covers-750 sq ft/bag
Erosion Control Blankets
Erosion control blankets are biodegradable netting with straw weaved into it. The netting helps hold moisture around seed and helps to hold soil and seed in place an sloped areas. The netting should be secured with sod staples.
Blankets come in a roll-6.67' x 108'
Fertilizers
Lawn fertilizers
We generally carry two lawn fertilizers.
30-0-15 2% Iron + Micronutrient package.
This is a great fertilizer blend for helping to keep a nice green color in the turf. The extra Potassium helps the grass tolerate the hot dry periods of an Iowa summer. The added Iron helps improve the green color of the grass. The Nitrogen is available as 50% slow release which means a nice steady slow feeding. This fertilizer feeds about 6-8 weeks.
50 lb bag covers 15,000 sq ft @ 1 lb N/1000 sq ft
13-25-12 Starter fertilizer
This is ideal blend for newly seeded areas. The higher rates of Phosphorous help aid in seed germination.
50 lb bag covers 12,500 sq ft @ 1 lb phosphate/1000 sq ft
Landscape fertilizers
19-19-19 Landscape Blend
This blend is an excellent choice for a complete feeding of shrubs and perennials in your landscape beds.
Bulk Materials
Wood Mulch
We carry a double ground hardwood mulch. Our mulch has a great natural brown color. It has been run through a screen to eliminate large bark chunks and leaving you with a more even consistant mulch.
Covers 108 sq ft @ 3" or 324 sq ft @ 1"
DO NOT install landscape fabric under mulch.
2" River Rock
River rock can be used for rock mulch, dry stream beds, and water features.
Covers 100 sq ft/ton
Install landscape fabric under river rock in beds. It may help some with weed suppresion but it also keeps the rock from working its way down into the soil.
3"-6" Cobblestone
Cobble stone is generally used along edges of dry stream beds, water features, and boulder fountains.
3/4" Crushed Limestone with minus
Crushed limestone is used as the base under patios, walkways, and drives.
